My Little Trooper

Well, as usaual, Isabella is a champ! She survived her first sugery (very very minor surgery) this morning! She did great every step of the way! We had to be at the sugery center at 6:30. I was really hoping she would sleep until 6 so that we could just get her out of her crib and put her in the car so she wouldrn't notice the fact that she didn't have her coveted milk the second she woke up. However, as usual, my little beauty was up at 5:15..BUT, she was happy as could be and didn't even notice the lack of milk. Kelly got here at 6 and we left for the surgery center. Surgery was scheduled for 7:30 and Bella was awesome the whole hour of pre-op stuff. She sat still and happy in the waiting room, she said hi to everyone she saw, she sat patiently while we filled out the paperwork, she was the center of attention while we waited for the doctor to come back to the operating room....all the nurses were hanging out with us and watching her (and..as usual..she was putting on a little show), and she even sat still for what seemed like forever as the nurse tried to find her pulse with the little finger machine. Right at 7:30 our doctor came in and I took her back to the operating room...this was by far the worst part for me. I had to hold her in my arms as they put her to sleep. She was crying as they put the mask on and then all of the sudden she was just limp and lifeless...uggh...it was horrible! They quickly ushered me out to the waiting room, and I no sooner sat down then the doctor was back out telling us it was over. It literally only took 5 mintues! By the time we got to go back and see Bella, she was awake...screaming...but still eyes closed and pretty out of it. She cried for AN HOUR straight...during all the post-op instructions, the entire ride home and then for a good while after we got home. Slowly she started to come out of it and for the next hour only cried when she burped (guess it was still a little painful). Then, Leah came downstairs from her nap and they were playing like normal. Now we'll just have to see how the night goes...hopefully this is going to give us some cry-free nights!! We'll see....

Waiting patiently for the doctor

The beautiful outfit I got to wear to take her back
