So...we finally took the plunge and got rid of the cribs. I had feared this day pretty much since they were able to walk. We have had major sleep issues with Isabella recently and I thought we may as well go ahead and get rid of the cribs and see if that might help? My hope of hopes was that having a little freedom in their bedroom...being able to snuggle with her sister when she was scared at night..would help her to not cry for an hour and a half to two hours EVERY night before she finally falls asleep. And ya know what...it didn't work :(
They were SOOOOOO excited about their big girl beds...like I honestly don't think I have EVER seen them so happy. Once we got them set up, they kept running up just to look at them. They even got up from the dinner table just to go look and then came back to finish dinner...
So, the first night...they were up there playing and screaming and acting crazy for 2 hours. They got out of their beds, they came out of their room, broke about every single rule that I put in place for the big girl beds. They did sleep through the night once they fell asleep...except when they fell out of bed..which happened to each a couple times.
Then came the next day...first nap time. Ugh. They didn't sleep a WINK! They played, destroyed their room, and just acted crazy! So, I thought that may be good news for bedtime...they usually take two hour naps, so they must be tired right? Well..nope. They played at night too...came out of their rooms...etc. Only, this time, it was only for about 25 minutes and then they went to sleep. Hmmm...
Nap #2 didn't happen at all today either. Totally played the entire time. BUT...then we went to the pool and they fell asleep on the way home. When we got home they were a mess...begging to go to bed...cranky...crying. Ugh. It was painful. But...ya know what...they went to sleep IMMEDIATELY when I finally got them into bed!
So, we'll see what tonight brings. If they sleep through the night...I may be OK with the fact that nap time is over. Although, I don't know how I will catch up on sleep. I count on those 2 hour naps on the weekends to make up for the sleep I don't get during the week!
If tomorrow doesn't go well...we will be separating them! I have told them that will happen...and they cry and say they don't want to be in different rooms...but I think it may need to happen to make nap time/bedtime easier. We'll see....
