Cesar decided to take a trip to Ecuador in August, so the girls and I packed up and headed down to Savannah to see Grandpa and Grandma Vikki (and Melissa and the boys as it turned out). Cesar had to leave the house at 6am on Thursday, so the girls and I got up at 4 to get out and beat rush hour traffic on the way out of DC. They were sleepy, but as soon as I walked into their bedroom to get them, they both shot out of their cribs and said, "Yay! It's time to go to Grandpa's". We had a RIDICULOUSLY easy trip down (oh...well, I received one speeding ticket...but we'll just forget about that since the rest of the trip was so easy). The girls were AMAZING...we stopped twice to eat and once to go to the bathroom, and we made it down in 11.5 hours. They slept a little, watched a little Veggie Tales, and listened to music. Not a single tear or complaint the ENTIRE way down...seriously..they were awesome . This is important to take note of because for the first two days we were down there, they were absolute TERRORS. Some crazy monsters took over my sweet girls...they whined, complained, cried, fought bedtime, fought with each other, and just acted miserable for the first couple days. Once they settled in, they got a little better, but whew...they wore me out the first couple days. Overall, we had a fantastic trip. The pictures show the highlights (including spending time with Grandpa and Grandma Vikki, going to the Aquarium, going to the beach, going to a bounce house, eating Grandpa's special "surprises" every night after bathtime, and much much more...). Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Vikki for a wonderful trip (and to Grandma for flying down and driving back with us...another easy trip on the way back! Our girls have this car travel thing down)!! Can't wait for next time...

| This was a random gas station that we stopped at. Who knew how excited the girls would get at some animal statues...they insisted that we go over and touch all the animals. |
| The first time I have let the girls get a fast food hamburger. Yuck...but despite Leah's face here...they LOVED it! |
| First morning in Savannah...went to the wet playground and used our bottoms to dry off all of the equipment...aren't we so kind! |
| After the playground...we headed to the aquarium. |
| Their favorite part...also the reason we ended up leaving the aquarium because they were being monsters and not listening...ugh. |
| They loved this part...they kept asking to go back to this little pond..there were TONS of turtles in there! |
| My thoughts exactly Bella! |

| After nap, Alice and Grace (Dad's neighbors) came over to play in the pool |
| On Saturday, I was going to take the girls to the beach. The Win's have a house down there and were SO gracious and allowed us to go with them to their house and their little section of the beach. The girls had a WONDERFUL time and the Win's were amazingly kind and generous with us...even serving us lunch after a morning playing on the beach. |

| Sunday, Vikki, Melissa and the boys were home so we stayed around the house and hung out with them. |

This is kind of boring...but Isabella DEVOURED this watermelon...barely coming up for air...this was her third full plate of it...ha ha.
They really enjoyed their bathtime there!
| Monday, we went to "Monkey Joe's" It was a really fun bounce house...I wish we had one here, the girls LOVED it! |
| Snack time |
| This was "monkey joe." The girls were terrified of him for the first hour we were there. They would walk as far away from him as possible :) |
| Tuesday, we tried to go to Story time at Dad's library, but they didn't have one, so we ended up going to the mall. The girls wanted lunch, so pizza it was... |
| At lunch, we spotted the merry-go-round and the train. Oh happy day! The girls were SO excited. We read a couple books about merry-go-rounds and have never been on one in real life! So...after pizza...we rode! |
| This was the train..I couldn't get a picture from the outside because I had to put my big mommy booty in the little train car with the girls :) |
| Grandpa took the girls on the "go cart" a few times...and they L-O-V-E-D every second of it!! |
| Every night after bath time...the girls got a special "surprise" from Grandpa. It started out as just a little mini doughnut, but each night he made it more special by adding something to the doughnut. The last night...this was the surprise...oh how happy he made those two little girls (not so much their mommy who just bathed them and was trying to get them to go to bed...but isn't that what grandparents are for). A white doughnut surrounded by a circle of chocolate syrup. After they finished the doughnut they got pretzels and cheese its (I know..yuck) to dip in the rest of the chocolate! |
| And Grandpa doing what he does best...being a housewife...ha ha ha. Really...he made us yummy dinners every night, cleaned everything up, and treated the three of us like princesses the entire time we were there! |
LOVE this post, and seeing all the great pics of your girls with your dad!! I don't think he has changed much since we were girls. :o)
